Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a root plant from the ginger family, which, thanks to its intense yellow-orange color and Indian origin, is also traditionally called Indian saffron. Turmeric has been used for over 5 thousand years and is one of the essential ingredients in Indian traditional spice curry. Of all the biologically active substances naturally found in turmeric, the most important is curcumin - a yellow-orange pigment from the group of curcuminoids, widely used and effective.
