MCT and Keto

Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) are fats naturally found in coconut and palm kernel oils. They are digested more quickly and easily than other fats. MCTs are absorbed directly in the digestive system after consumption and are rapidly metabolized in the liver. According to research, they promote the use of fat as an energy source rather than being stored in fat tissue. Some studies suggest that replacing conventional fats, sources of long-chain triglycerides, with medium-chain triglycerides as part of a balanced diet combined with physical activity can have a favorable effect on body weight and composition. Therefore, MCT oils are often used in ketogenic diets or keto diets.
